Praised by the Greek National Herald as having a “powerful and clear voice that dazzles audiences,” young Greek-American soprano Juliet Ariadne Papadopoulos has performed in venues all over the metropolitan area and in England, Scotland, Austria, and Greece. In January of 2024, she made her Carnegie Hall debut singing the soprano solo in John Rutter’s Magnificat, conducted by the composer himself. She was honored to return to sing at Carnegie Hall again this past May. Juliet’s international season began with a performance of Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire at the Schoenberg Center in Vienna; in June, she toured the United Kingdom as soprano soloist in J.S. Bach’s Mass in B minor with the Yale Schola Cantorum under the direction of David Hill. In August, Juliet made her professional operatic debut singing the role of Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni with the Opera Theater of Connecticut.

Juliet discovered a love for music while singing with NYC’s Voyces as a child and continued her classical training at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art. Juliet graduated summa cum laude from SUNY Purchase’s Opera program in May of 2022. Favorite opera roles she performed while at Purchase include Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and Constance in Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites. Juliet graduated this past May with her Masters in Music from the Yale School of Music and Yale Institute of Sacred Music. She was honored to be awarded the inaugural Yale School of Music Simon Carrington Award in Concert Voice. During her first year at Yale, she was awarded the Yale Institute of Sacred Music’s Hugh Porter Scholarship.

In addition to her love of playing characters on the opera stage, Juliet is a frequent performer of concert repertoire and is especially passionate about collaborating with other musicians to bring pieces of chamber music to life. Recent concert work includes singing Mozart’s Exsultate, Jubilate with the Woodstock Symphony Orchestra, Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Howell’s Hymnus Paradisi with the Yale Schola Cantorum, Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 at Yale’s Marquand Chapel, and Handel’s L'Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato with Juilliard 415 at Alice Tully Hall. Juliet is also a rising interpreter of new music; she has sung solo on two world premieres by award-winning Yale faculty member Aaron J. Kernis and she won the Grand Prize in the CSU Bakersfield Music Performance Award for her recording of Family Portraits, a song cycle by Doug Davis. Last year, Juliet had the honor of singing the soprano solo in Theophanes the Greek by Savvas Karantzias for its USA premiere at Symphony Space. She also was named as finalist in the Lyndon-Woodside Oratorio Solo Competition.
